Cassowaries are very large flightless birds native to the tropical forests of New Guinea and northeastern Australia. According to the guiness book of world records, cassowaries are the most dangerous birds in the world capable of dealing with fatal blows. They are highly unpredictable creatures, aggressive in their attack especially when perturbed or harmed. The abode of such creatures is mainly near australia and new guinea and they are very calm when they are undisturbed.when you get close to them you could receive a bone-breaking kick or get sliced by its razor- like sharp claws.some of the soldiers in new guinea suffered severe attack from these birds. They cannot be kept in zoos and sanctuaries since they are difficult to tame and preserve. at present they come under the endangered species list. Some nearby islands also have small cassowary populations, but it is not known if these are natural or the result of the New Guinea trade in young birds. They are frugivorous; fallen fruit and fruit on low branches is the mainstay of their diet. They also eat fungi, snails, insects, frogs, and snakes.
